Editorial 2

Comparing to the first editorial look, I want this look to be a bit more dramatic, again focusing on the eyes. I wish to have thick lashes on the top with black chunky glitter on the lower lash line. I want a plain canvas with dewy skin and also bleached brows. For the lips I wish to use a sheer pink/mauve/nude colour just to add a bit of colour without making it look too much.

As for the hair, I wish to do a deep side parting that comes across the face, like the Diesel SS16 hairstyle. I want the hair to be natural and quite messy. I feel like this look has more of a grunge vibe comparing to the first editorial look.

Editorial 1

For this look I wish to focus on the eyes with false lashes and chunky glitter. I want to go with the dewy skin look and a darker nude lip. I also want to go with the theme of thick brows to really draw attention to the eye area.

For the hair I wish to have a relaxed feel to the images so I want the hair to be bed-head like with no real structure to it. Much like the Armani, SS16 Milan show.

Editorial Moodboards

LOOK 1 & LOOK 2 MOODBOARD

I want to link the editorial looks with the catwalk looks as YSL have done it for this season's editorial images and the catwalk looks.
I wanted to again, focus on the eyes, this time combining lashes and chunky glitter. There was a big trend of lashes at the spring/summer 2016 shows and I think that these looks would look stunning in black and white. I wish to use normal individual lashes and the chunky individual lashes as seen on the moodboard. I think the lashes will add to the grunge vibe of the shoot. I also want to use the black glitter as I think for editorial I will be able to get away with the harsh and intense look.
The hair will be very natural with a bed-head type hairstyle. I also want to incorporate a deep side-part because it appeared on the Diesel SS16 show, and I think people will recognise that it is YSL as the Black Opium advert also has that messy, swept hairstyle.

I have chose to incorporate my first editorial images as I think it will complete the images to have both a male and a female in the final image. I think that the editing will be challenging as I have to edit the images together, however, if it works, the images will look the part.

Advertising Moodboards

LOOK 1 MOODBOARD

For the first advertisement look I wish to go for a natural make-up look that is based on the SS16 collection for YSL Beauty. I want the advertisement to show dewy skin with peachy, rose gold tones on the eyes, lips and cheeks.
The hair will be in a loose, messy ponytail, to add to the effortless theme of the shoot. I think that this is a perfect day look because it is an 'easy' look that gives the affect of an effortless girl-next-door.

LOOK 2 MOODBOARD

As for the second look, I based it on the green eyeshadows in the palette in the SS16 collection. I want to create a green eye-look with a dark mauve/berry sheer lipstick. I want the look to have a 'city girl' feel in which the model is that typical city girl roaming the town at night, giving the impression of effortless fun, while still looking more sensual.
The hair will have a wave/worn-in curl to add to the 'no effort' feel of the image.

For the advertisements, I have decided that I want to go with the casual feel of casting a model who looks more 'girl-next-door' rather than the more powerful ads that YSL have also produced. I think that many others doing YSL only ever think of the powerful women in suit jackets, while the adverts are what makes YSL, I do think that they also go down the route of a 'girl-next-door' as they want to make their products appealing to everyone and less intimidating with the powerfulness of the other ads.

Catwalk Moodboards

LOOK 1 & LOOK 2 MOODBOARD

For my catwalk looks I wish to base the make-up on the clothing of the SS16 ready-to-wear collection.
The collection consisted of sequinned garments paired with oversized, casual jackets, some were even paired with wellington boots. The collection was described as 'festival chic' which I can see the resemblance of festival-wear with the glamour of sequins and the relaxed jackets.
I want to incorporate the sequins and glitter into my make-up looks as the make-up in the SS16 show was very minimalistic and I wish to make my looks more interesting.

As for the hair, I want to follow the effortless theme that was seen in the show, so I wish to go with a brushed-out, messy curl and adding small plaits to the hair in one of the looks, like the Louis Vuitton SS16 catwalk look.

The overall looks should showcase the clothing and it should fit into the theme of the festival-type SS16 catwalk.

Finger Waves : Masterclass

There are four different ways to create a finger wave. I ended up trying two different methods.
I found creating finger waves quite difficult as I couldn't get the hang of moving the hair but I managed to get some sort of wave in the head.

To create this look I drenched the hair in water with gel. I then used one finger to hold the hair in place and then I pinched a bit of hair and pulled it to one side. This, in theory, should create a deep wave in the hair. I then repeated it to create a second finger wave. I found this method quite difficult.

To create this almost 40s hairstyle, I used a curling tong. I curled three sections of hair downwards and set them to cool. I then brushed them out and the hair naturally wants to create a wave shape. This look is more subtle with curled hair at the bottom.

The other two methods are using the same wet method but just using one finger to manipulate the hair. This gives a flat finger wave.
The other method uses a curling tong as well, however, you just clamp the hair in the tong to create a wave shape.

This look will consist of a green smokey eye with a sheer dark berry lip. I want the look to be quite glamorous with a more defined eyebrow and stronger contouring. I wish to create a more dramatic look, again sticking with the idea of creating it with the spring/summer collection.

For the hair, I want to have perfectly curled curls, slightly brushed through to give a relaxed vibe. I think that curls will compliment the glamorous make-up.
